The best place to take your dog in California during summer

The best place to take your dog in California during summer

Every year at Spring Lake Park there is an amazing event where you can take your dog. Is call Water Bark at Spring Lake, Santa Rosa California. During the month of September, you can go every weekend and have a fun day in this amazing park, check the link to their website at the bottom.

You can spend good quality time with your dog in the lake. They enclose the area so you can leave your dog off-leash, so your best friend will play with other friendly dogs (there is staff checking and any misbehaved dog will be taken out, I honestly didn’t have any issues during my visit since everyone was very friendly and always keeping an eye on their dogs). The lake will have a lot of tennis balls, dogs can swim and run freely and have a fun day. Don’t worry about the water since The Water Bark is held in the Spring Lake swimming lagoon, which is chlorinated, filtered and closely monitored by Regional Parks staff.

You will be able to enjoy a café where you can sit and enjoy their food and drinks, they also have a selection for your dog (treats, toys, etc). If you want to take a walk, run or bike the park also have different paths to enjoy the place while you do any of those activities. You can alternate between the Water Bark event and other areas of the park since the tickets are good for the whole day.

The event has a small fee, but it is for a good cause. They raise money for more than 50 dog-friendly parks and trails in the Sonoma County Regional Parks system.

  • $7 per dog for non-Regional Parks members plus $7 per car for parking (paid on-location)

  • $5 per dog for Regional Parks members, with free parking

  • $30 per dog for a fast entry, non-transferable season pass

I really recommend this activity. I spent a great time with my wife and Giselle (my german shepherd), and I will be going every year.
